Sister Mary Stanislaus (Veronica) Maguire, RDC, a member of the Sisters of the Divine Compassion, died on November 27, 2002 at Good Counsel Convent. Sister Mary Stanislaus was 99. She was born on September 26, 1903 in New York City, the daughter of John F. and Mary Kermath Maguire.

Sr. Mary Stanislaus entered the Divine Compassion Congregation on September 8, 1919. She received a BA in English from Good Counsel College and continued her studies at NY State University at Oneonta. Sister Mary Stanislaus enjoyed a long and fruitful teaching career beginning at Good Counsel Academy Elementary School in White Plains and continuing at St. Mary's School in Katonah. She served as Principal of St. Lawrence O'Toole School in Brewster, New York. From 1942 to her retirement in 1978, she spent many productive years at St. Frances de Chantal School in the Bronx.

Sister remained an active volunteer at St. Frances until 1990 when she retired to Good Counsel Convent in White Plains. Sister Alice Feely, President of the Sisters of the Divine Compassion, said: "Sr. Mary Stanislaus was an enthusiastic teacher and community member who loved people and brought joy to all that she did." Sister Mary Stanislaus is survived by her religious Sisters of the Divine Compassion and her cousin, Robert Banta of North Carolina.
