Sister Mary Martina Lynch, RDC (Catherine Veronica Lynch), a member of the Sisters of the Divine Compassion, died on December 18, 2007 at St. Cabrini Nursing Home in Dobbs Ferry, NY.Sister Mary Martina was born in Convent Station, New Jersey on May 5, 1916, the daughter of Patrick and Agnes Regan Lynch. Sister Martina entered the Sisters of the Divine Compassion on January 6, 1936 and professed final vows on August 12, 1945.Sister Mary Martina attended St. Mary Elementary and High School, Katonah, NY graduating in 1934.

She received her B.A. degree in English from Good Counsel College in White Plains, NY and was licensed to teach in the primary and intermediate grades.Sister Mary Martina began her teaching career at St. Frances de Chantal Elementary School, Bronx, NY from 1939 to 1952. In September 1952 she was assigned to St. Lawrence O'Toole, Brewster, NY where she served until 1969. In 1969 Sister taught at Holy Name of Jesus School, Valhalla, NY and the following year was assigned to Good Counsel Academy Elementary School in White Plains until 1976.Sister Mary Martina prepared for a second career as a Licensed Practical Nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital, Yonkers, NY. Sister was anxious to serve the Community in the Infirmary at Good Counsel which she joined in 1977.Sister Alice Feeley, President of the Sisters of the Divine Compassion said, "Sister brought kindness and joy to her teaching and nursing and to her community."Sister Mary Martina is survived by her Sisters of the Divine Compassion, her sister, Sr. Winfred Lynch, OP of Adrian, Michigan.
