Sr. Madeline Desel, RDC (formerly Sr. Mary Antonio), a Sister of the Divine Compassion, died peacefully on November 25, 2017.

Sr. Madeline was born in Brooklyn, NY, in 1925, the daughter of Walter and Emma (Hirsh) Desel. Sister attended Bishop McDonnell High School in Brooklyn and graduated from Good Counsel College in White Plains. She received her MA in Business Education from New York University.

Sister's teaching career began at Good Counsel College. She also taught at St. Frances de Chantal and Preston High School in the Bronx. For many years Sr. Madeline served as the Director of Finance for the Sisters of the Divine Compassion and was also a faithful volunteer at the Preston Center of Compassion.

Sr. Laura Donovan, President of the Sisters of the Divine Compassion, said, "Sister Madeline was a beloved member of our community, a person who exemplified our charism of compassion in word and deed."

Sr. Madeline is survived by her Sisters of the Divine Compassion, her sister-in-law, Virginia Desel and many nieces and nephews.
