Sister Mary Celine Morris, RDC, a member of the Sisters of the Divine Compassion at Good Counsel Convent in White Plains died suddenly on April 27, 2001 at St. Agnes Hospital. She was born October 2, 1931 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Hastings A. Morris and Mary Reilly Morris. Sister Mary Celine entered the Sisters of the Divine Compassion on August 15, 1953 after her graduation from Good Counsel College with a B.A. degree in English. She received a B.S.M. degree from Manhattanville College in 1968. She also studied music at New York University. Sr. Mary Celine was an accomplished musician whose musical talent enriched her teaching of children in pre-k through 8th grade at Good Counsel Academy Elementary School from 1956 to1992. Sr. Mary Celine served as administrator of the Good Counsel community from 1996 to the present. Sr. Mary Celine served as organist for the Sisters of the Divine Compassion and the Good Counsel campus schools, and she directed many concerts and musical productions at Good Counsel. Sr. Alice Feeley, President of the Sisters of the Divine Compassion, said, "In her teaching, in her liturgical service and in in her community administration Sr. Mary Celine brought music, understanding and kindness. Her generous presence at Good Counsel will be deeply missed." Sr. Mary Celine is survived by her sister, Mary T. Morris of Danielson, CT and her religious sisters of the Divine Compassion.
