Sr. Catherine Keogan, RDC, a faculty member at Saint Anthony School in West Harrison, NY, died on Wednesday, February 23, 2000. She was 63. Sister was born in Bronx, NY, the daughter of John P. and Bridget Leonard Keogan, both deceased. She attended Our Lady of Mercy, Port Chester, and Good Counsel Academy in White Plains and received a BA degree in English from Good Cousel College and an MS in Math Education from Saint Joseph's College in West Hartford, CT. Sister Catherine entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Divine Compassion on September 3, 1955 and pronounced perpetual vows on April 18, 1963. She taught first at Saint Anthony School from 1958-1963; Sacred Heart School, Hartsdale, from 1963-1965; Saint John's School, Mahopac, 1965-1969; Our Lady of Sorrows School, White Plains, 1969-1976; Saint Frances de Chantal School, Bronx, 1976-1991. Currently, she was again on the staff of Saint Anthony School in West Harrison. Sr. Helen Coldrick, President of the Sisters of the Divine Compassion, said, "Sr. Catherine loved children and delighted in them. This was the wellspring of her dedication to elementary education and her success as a teacher." Sister Catherine is survived by the Sisters of the Divine Compassion; her sisters, Sr. Margaret Keogan, RDC, of Mount Carmel School in Elmsford and Patricia Almstead of Red Hook, NY, and devoted nieces and nephews.
