Sister Catherine Keeley, RDC (formerly Sr. Mary Consolata), a Sister of the Divine Compassion, died peacefully at Good Counsel Convent on July 2, 2009. Sister Catherine was born in Trenton, New Jersey on March 3, 1918, the daughter of Thomas and Helen (Barrett) Keeley. She entered the Sisters of the Divine Compassion February 2, 1937 and professed her final vows August 15, 1945. Sr. Catherine attended St. Mary's Elementary School in Bordentown and Cathedral High School in Trenton, New Jersey. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in English and Education from Good Counsel College and the Master of Arts degree in Administration from Villanova University. During her years as an elementary school teacher, Sr. Catherine taught at Sr. Frances de Chantal School, Bronx, St. Mary's School, Katonah, St. Lawrence O'Toole School, Brewster, St. Joseph's School, Croton Falls and St. Bernard's School and Good Counsel Academy in White Plains.

Sister also worked for the Catholic School Board in Manhattan and taught at Blessed Sacrament School in New York City. Sister Catherine served as Director of Religious Education at St. Anthony of Padua Parish in East White Plains and later enjoyed parish work at St. John and Mary Church in Chappaqua. Most recently Sister served in a ministry of prayer and presence at Good Counsel Convent. Sister Susan Merritt, President of the Sisters of the Divine Compassion said, "Sister Catherine was a strong and very talented woman and she will be missed." Sr. Catherine is survived by her Sisters of the Divine Compassion, her sister, Helen Brown and her nephew Robert Brown.
