Sister Mary Caroline Thomas, formerly known as Kathryn Thomas, a Sister of the Divine Compassion, died peacefully at St. Cabrini Residence on March 19.

Sister was born July 17, 1927 in Elmira, NY, the daughter of Henry and Mary (Cronin) Thomas. She attended Elmira Catholic High School, received her BS in Chemistry from Good Counsel College and a MS in Chemistry from Notre Dame University.

Over her teaching career she taught at St. Bernard’s School in White Plains, St. Mary’s School in Katonah, NY, Preston High School in the Bronx and Kennedy Catholic in Somers. Sister received numerous awards in the course of her teaching career.

Sister Laura Donovan, President of the Sisters of the Divine Compassion, said, “Sister Caroline was a gifted, and dedicated science teacher, and an ever-loyal member of our religious community.”

Sister is survived by her Sisters of the Divine Compassion and her cousins, Anthony and Bonnie Punzo. She was predeceased by her brother, Fr. William Thomas.
