Lent

Posted March 2, 2022

Lent.

If you were unable to join us today for Ash Wednesday Mass at the Chapel of the Divine Compassion, please click here.

As we begin our Lenten journey this week, the RDC Social Justice Board offers the following resources for reflection, prayer and action. During this season of repentance and renewal, let us recommit ourselves to a closer and prayerful following of Jesus.

  1. Pope Francis has declared Ash Wednesday a day of fasting and prayer for peace in Ukraine Pope Francis declares Ash Wednesday a day of fasting and prayer for peace in Ukraine | America Magazine
  2. RE-humanize this Lent - Franciscan Action Network * The Franciscan Action Network invites you “RE-humanize this Lent.” This one-hour program includes scripture, reflection, discussion, and prayer about how we can use the weeks of Lent to become “re-humanizers,” resisting the dangers of dehumanizing discourse to our fellow citizens, our country, and our souls. Click on the link to view this special event. On this site, you can also sign up to receive short reflections emailed each day during Lent.
  3. Harden Not Your Hearts: A Lenten Journey in Holy Frustration - Ignatian Solidarity Network Walk with writers from across the Ignatian network each day throughout Lent as we strive to turn our frustration into holy frustration in a way that keeps our hearts open and our action oriented to God’s voice and to one another as we seek connection and justice in our world. Sign up for a free series of reflections delivered to your inbox each morning.
  4. Lent Resources - IgnatianSpirituality.com This link will highlight a variety of Ignatian resources for contemplation and reflective prayer to encourage us during the season of Lent.
  5. Lenten Reflection Guide 2022: Upholding Human Dignity and Human Rights | Maryknoll Office for Global Concerns (maryknollogc.org)  A weekly Lenten Reflection Guide: Reflections, questions, prayers, and actions based on each week’s Scripture readings in light of Catholic social teaching on human rights and Maryknoll mission experience. Use it individually or in a small group setting to reflect upon your life patterns, to pray more deeply, and to renew your spirit to face the realities of our world.
  6. Lent with Padre Pio | Franciscan Media “Celebrate Lent with Padre Pio!” Receive reflections, prayers and words of comfort from Padre Pio in your inbox each day.
  7. Ignatian Lent - Jesuits.org Join our Lenten email series and receive these Lenten reflections in your inbox throughout the 40 days of Lent.
