Susan McCarthy, RDC

Sister Susan McCarthy, RDC (Formerly, Sister Julia Marie)

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Sr. Susan McCarthy was five years old when her family moved to White Plains. Sr. Susan was introduced to the RDCs when she attended St. Bernard’s Elementary School, and continued at Good Counsel Academy High School.  Sister’s first twenty-five years of ministry were spent as a teacher at St. Mary’s in Katonah, Preston High School and Good Counsel Academy High School.  Later, Sr. Susan served as an Associate Pastor at several parishes, including St. Francis Xavier in Manhattan, Christ the King and St. Nicholas of Tolentine in the Bronx. In 2000, Sister moved to Little Rock, Arkansas to work in the Diocese of Little Rock as Promotions Coordinator for Little Rock Scripture Study (LRSS). Sister spent 15 years in this ministry, traveling throughout the Unites States, exhibiting and providing workshops on how to use LRSS materials for Bible study. Currently, Sr. Susan is a Board Member with both SHORE/I CARE and Marydell Faith and Life Center. Sister is a member of the RDC Pastoral Care Team. She visits with our Sisters at St. Cabrini Nursing Home in Dobbs Ferry. Sister also volunteers at Wartburg, where she provides Communion services, and helps organize activities for the Divine Compassion Sisters and other residents.  Sr. Susan enjoys sports, especially the NY Mets, as well as playing Canasta and Sodoku online.
