Sister Blanche Haughey, RDC (Formerly, Sister Mary Blanche)

Born and raised in Yonkers, NY, Sr. Blanche graduated from Good Counsel College and entered religious life in 1962. Sister earned her Masters degree in Education at St. John’s University.  Education has been her life’s ministry, having taught in several schools from 1965 to 1981, including St. John the Baptist in Yonkers, St. Anthony’s in West Harrison, St. Theresa’s in Briarcliff, as well as St. Bernard’s Elementary and Good Counsel High School in White Plains. Sister was also a teacher and assistant principal at Sacred Heart in Hartsdale. For ten years, Sr. Blanche served as a teacher and administrator at Pace University. Sister was the Director of Pace Little School and Assistant Administrator at the Delany Center for Educational Enrichment which worked to improve children’s developmental reading skills.

Currently, Sr. Blanche is a member of the RDC Pastoral Care Team. Sister visits with our Sisters at St. Cabrini Nursing Home in Dobbs Ferry and Wartburg Retirement Community in Mt. Vernon.  She also loves to read and watch sports, especially college basketball.
